'Flat Out to the Finish'

The 1969 Le Mans 24-hour race is regarded by many as the race of the century. After 24 hours of hard racing the John Wyer Automotive Gulf Ford GT40 of Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver, beat the works Porsche 908 LH of Hans Herrmann and Gérard Larrousse by just 2 seconds.

'Hawkeye'

Australian Paul Hawkins heads for victory through Coram Curve at Snetterton in his Lola T70 Mk3B-Chevrolet to win the Guards Trophy in 1969. Brian Redman gave chase in Sid Taylor's similar car but retired with engine failure.

'The First of Four'

The first Ford victory at Le Mans came in the 1966 24 hour race. Three of the GT40 Mk2 cars finished 1-2-3 with victory going to the New Zealand pair Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon. Ford GT40s won again in 1967, '68 & '69.

During the 1970 Brands Hatch 'BOAC 1000km' race, Mexican Pedro Rodriguez drove the race of his life to win in the John Wyer Automotive Gulf Porsche 917, sharing the driving with Leo Kinnunen.

The 1964 Autosport 3-hour race at Snetterton ended in challenging foggy conditions, but Jack Sears won superbly and lapped the entire field in the Willment AC Cobra Coupe.
